This regency is one of three areas of MandarEthnic groups whichs is located about 302 km away from Makassar. It is in the western part of Sulawesi island. This region has a long beach line. Therefore, the view in the coastal areas which are mostly covered with white sand makes very beautiful.
The people in this region are also famous with the "Sarong Mandar Weaving" which in bahasa Indonesia people called it 'pertenunan gedogan'.
Ones who come to this regency, can also find the ancient cemetery is located on a lower slope of therocks close to Pangali-ali beach in Majene Town.
